This is why I write…

I write because I can't contain the ideas in my head anymore.

But then I do things like sending a free book to my favorite teacher's widow and get such a lovely response in return…

I received your poetry book Barefoot on the Couch with your lovely note.  Getting communications from his former students is always a joyful occurrence.  Bill influenced so many young people over his career that it was so unfair that he was unable to instill knowledge and confidence in more students.  Even after four years it feels like yesterday that he left us. I know he is watching over me and all his students helping us continue to grow.  Reading you poetry in his stead is an honor.  Keep writing what you feel and think about the world.  — Sarah J.
